Erectile dysfunction is a common problem experienced by many men, and takes two forms:
Inability to achieve erection.
Can become partially erect, but erection is not hard enough, and doesn’t last long.
From the TCM perspective, sexual dysfunction is mainly related to the kidneys, and acupuncture can correct abnormal kidney function through the action of meridians, and is used to treat erectile dysfunction. (Note: The concept of the kidneys is different from TCM and modern medicine.)
Lack of Libido/Excessive Libido
According to TCM, sexual desire is related to the liver and gallbladder. When there is an excess of heat in the liver and gallbladder, then the person will experience excessive sexual desire. On the contrary, when the heat of liver and gallbladder is insufficient, then the person will lack sexual desire.
For treatment or libido related issues, we can use Chinese herbal medicine to enhance or reduce the heat of the liver and gallbladder to adjust the person’s sexual desire.
